These regulations are made under section 67 of the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Electronic Identity Verification Amendment Regulations 2016.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 30 September 2016.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Electronic Identity Verification Regulations 2013 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 4 amended (Participating agencies)
Replace regulation 4(j) with:
(j)
every registered establishment within the meaning of section 159(1) of the Education Act 1989:
(k)
every industry training organisation within the meaning of section 2 of the Industry Training and Apprenticeships Act 1992:
(l)
each of the bodies listed in Schedule 1.
5 Schedule 1 heading amended
In the Schedule 1 heading, replace “r 4(e)”
with “r 4(l)”
.
6 Schedule 1 amended
In Schedule 1, insert in their appropriate alphabetical order the items set out in the Schedule of these regulations.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 30 September 2016, amend the Electronic Identity Verification Regulations 2013 (the principal regulations). The principal regulations are made under the Electronic Identity Verification Act 2012 (the Act).
The Act provides for the Electronic Identity Verification Service (the Service) which, among other things, enables a person to verify his or her identity online in order to meet the identification requirements of participating agencies in relation to certain transactions and services. The Service also enables entities that are declared by regulations to be participating agencies to verify a person’s identity by electronic means, provided that they have the person’s consent.
These regulations add 2 classes of bodies and 7 named bodies to the list of bodies declared by regulation 4 of the principal regulations to be participating agencies for the purposes of the Act.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
