Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Climate Change (Liquid Fossil Fuels) Regulations 2008 by increasing the default emission factor for automotive and marine diesel prescribed in the Schedule of those regulations from 2.670 tCO₂e/kl to 2.685 tCO₂e/kl. The regulations come into force on 4 March 2015, but apply from 31 December 2014 because section 166(3) of the Climate Change Response Act 2002 provides that regulations made under section 163 of that Act may come into force no earlier than 3 months after the date of their notification in the Gazette, while section 163(3) of that Act allows the regulations to apply in respect of a period after any particular date within the year in which they are made.
