Notice

1 Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Total Allowable Catch, Total Allowable Commercial Catch, and Deemed Value Rates) Amendment Notice (No 2) 2023.

2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 30 September 2023.

3 Application

This notice applies on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 October 2023.

5 Schedule 1 replaced

Replace Schedule 1 with the Schedule 1 set out in the Schedule of this notice.

6 Schedule 2 amended

In Schedule 2, revoke the item relating to SNA7.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice amends the Fisheries (Total Allowable Catch, Total Allowable Commercial Catch, and Deemed Value Rates) Notice 2015 (the principal notice).

The amendments commence on 30 September 2023 but apply on and from the first day of the fishing year starting on 1 October 2023.

This notice amends Schedules 1 and 2 of the principal notice to make changes to the total allowable catch, total allowable commercial catch, and deemed value rates for the October 2023 fishing year.

The stocks affected by the changes are green-lipped mussel (GLM9), red gurnard (GUR3), orange roughy (ORH3B), paua (PAU2), school shark (SCH5), gemfish (SKI1 and SKI2), snapper (SNA7 and SNA8), stargazer (STA7), sea urchin, kina, sea egg (SUR1A and SUR1B), silver warehou (SWA3), and trevally (TRE2).

In the case of GLM9, the fishing year for 2023–24 is the 6-month period commencing on 1 October 2023 and ending at the close of 31 March 2024 (as set by clause 4 of Schedule 1AA of the Fisheries Act 1996).
