This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice is made under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999. It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette and revokes itself on 12 November 2020, being the day after the expiry of the reappointments in clause 5.

The Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for a customary food gathering area/rohe moana may authorise any individual to take fish, aquatic life, or seaweed for customary food gathering purposes from within the area/rohe moana.

This notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Rūnanga o Kaikōura. The area/rohe moana is an area from Clarence River to the Gore Bay Peninsula and from the Gore Bay Peninsula to the Hurunui River.

Notice is given of—

• the reappointment of 2 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki whose previous terms expired at the close of 11 November 2015:

• the appointment of a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki to replace a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki who died during 2015.

The Minister for Primary Industries made the reappointments and appointment at the request of Te Rūnanga o Kaikōura.
