Pursuant to regulation 9 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the Minister for Primary Industries gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ōnuku Rūnanga) Notice 2016.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Revocation of this notice
This notice is revoked on 17 May 2021.
4 Customary food gathering area/rohe moana
This notice applies to the customary food gathering area/rohe moana defined by clause 2(d) of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 37) 2002 (Gazette 2002, p 4486).
5 New appointments
(1)
The Minister for Primary Industries has appointed the following people as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana:
(a)
Pere Tainui:
(b)
Wayne Morgan.
(2)
The appointments—
(a)
took effect on 17 May 2016; and
(b)
expire at the close of 16 May 2021.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice is made under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette and revokes itself on 17 May 2021.
This notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Ōnuku Rūnanga.
Notice is given of the appointment of 2 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana.
The Minister for Primary Industries made the new appointments under regulation 9 of the regulations. The Minister did so at the request of Ōnuku Rūnanga.
The powers of the Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
