This order is made under section 32 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Ombudsmen Act (Schedule 1—Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children) Order 2017.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 18 January 2018.
3 Ombudsmen Act 1975 amended
(1)
In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, repeal the item relating to the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki.
(2)
In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:
Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children
4 Revocation
The Ombudsmen Act (Schedule 1—Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki) Order 2016 (LI 2016/178) is revoked.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 18 January 2018, amends the Ombudsmen Act 1975.
Clause 3 replaces the reference to the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki in the list of departments of the Public Service in Part 1 of Schedule 1 with a reference to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children.
The name of the Ministry for Vulnerable Children will change to Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children by exercise of the Crown’s prerogative on 18 January 2018.
The effect of this order is that both the Ombudsmen Act 1975 and the Official Information Act 1982 will apply to the Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children after the name change.
