Health and Safety at Work (Petroleum Exploration and Extraction) Amendment Regulations 2017

These regulations are made under section 211 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety made after complying with section 217 of that Act.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Health and Safety at Work (Petroleum Exploration and Extraction) Amendment Regulations 2017.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 15 May 2017.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Health and Safety at Work (Petroleum Exploration and Extraction) Regulations 2016 (the principal regulations).
4 References to non-production offshore installation replaced
In regulations 39(b), 40(3), 48(1) and (2), 49(1)(c)(i) and (ii), and 50(1)(a) and (b), replace “non-production offshore installation”
with “offshore non-production installation”
.
5 Regulation 55 amended (Application of Part 6)
In regulation 55(b), replace “in relation a production”
with “in relation to a production”
.
6 Regulation 71 amended (Duty to notify notifiable incidents)
(1)
In regulation 71(1) and (2)(b), insert “or drilling contractor”
after “permit operator”
in each place.
(2)
In regulation 71(4) and (5), replace “a permit operator or a drilling contractor”
with “the permit operator or the drilling contractor”
.
7 Schedule 5 amended
In Schedule 5, clause 3, replace “regulation 23”
with “regulation 24”
.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 15 May 2017, amend the Health and Safety at Work (Petroleum Exploration and Extraction) Regulations 2016 (the principal regulations). These regulations correct clerical and typographical errors and an incorrect cross-reference in the principal regulations.
Date of notification in Gazette: 13 April 2017.
These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
