Local Government Members (2018/19) (Local Authorities) Amendment Determination 2018: revoked (after expiring on the close of 30 June 2019), on 1 July 2019, pursuant to clause 16 of the Local Government Members (2019/20) Determination 2019 (LI 2019/135).

Pursuant to clauses 6 and 7A(1) and (5) of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002 and to the Remuneration Authority Act 1977, the Remuneration Authority, after having regard to the matters specified in clause 7 of that schedule, makes the following determination (to which is appended an explanatory memorandum).
Determination
1 Title
This determination is the Local Government Members (2018/19) (Local Authorities) Amendment Determination 2018.
2 Commencement
(1)
Clause 5(1) and (3) to (8) is deemed to have come into force on 1 July 2018.
(2)
Clause 5(2) is deemed to have come into force on 12 September 2018.
(3)
The rest of this determination comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Principal determination
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2018/19) (Local Authorities) Determination 2018 (the principal determination).
4 Clause 11 amended (Vehicle mileage allowance)
(1)
In clause 11(3), replace “to a member is”
with “to a member for eligible travel before 1 December 2018 is”
.

After clause 11(3), insert:

The allowance payable to a member for eligible travel on and after 1 December 2018 is,—
(a)
for a petrol or diesel vehicle,—
(i)
76 cents per kilometre for the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination; and
(ii)
26 cents per kilometre after the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination:
(b)
for a petrol hybrid vehicle,—
(i)
76 cents per kilometre for the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination; and
(ii)
18 cents per kilometre after the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination:
(c)
for an electric vehicle,—
(i)
76 cents per kilometre for the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination; and
(ii)
9 cents per kilometre after the first 14,000 kilometres of eligible travel during the term of this determination.
5 Schedule amended

Explanatory memorandum
This memorandum is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2018/19) (Local Authorities) Determination 2018 (the principal determination). The amendments in clause 5 of this determination are made at the request of the councils concerned.
Clause 4 amends clause 11 of the principal determination, which sets out the vehicle mileage allowance that may be paid by a local authority to a member to reimburse them for the costs incurred in respect of eligible travel. The new kilometre rates reflect the rates, for self-employed people and employees, published by the Inland Revenue Department on 23 July 2018. The updated rates are payable for eligible travel after 1 December 2018.
Clause 5, except for subclause (2), is deemed to have come into force on 1 July 2018. Clause 5(2) (which relates to Carterton District Council) is deemed to have come into force on 12 September 2018. The rest of this determination comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
