This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice is given under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette and is revoked on 3 May 2023.

The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Rūnanga o Moeraki. The area/rohe moana is the area from the mouth of the Waitaki River south to the mouth of the Shag River, extending seaward to the limit of the South Island fisheries waters, and inland to the boundaries defined for Te Rūnanga o Moeraki in the Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu (Declaration of Membership) Order 2001.

Notice is given of the reappointment of a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the reappointment at the request of Te Rūnanga o Moeraki.
