Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Horokaka Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2018
Pursuant to regulation 25 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Horokaka Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2018.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Mātaitai reserve
This notice applies to Horokaka Mātaitai Reserve, near Mahia, which was declared by the Fisheries (Declaration and Notification of Horokaka Mātaitai Reserve and Appointment of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki) Notice 2012 (Gazette 2012, p 2736).

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice is given under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
The notice relates to Horokaka Mātaitai Reserve, which is located near Mahia. The tangata whenua of the area that includes the mātaitai reserve are represented by the Mahia Maori Committee.
Notice is given of the appointment of 8 additional Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the mātaitai reserve. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointments at the request of the Mahia Maori Committee.
The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
Date of notification in Gazette: 28 August 2018.
