Fisheries (Green-lipped Mussel Spat Ratio) Notice 2018
Pursuant to section 188A of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Director Fisheries Management (acting under a delegation from the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries under the State Sector Act 1988) gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Green-lipped Mussel Spat Ratio) Notice 2018.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 30 September 2018 and applies on and from 1 October 2018.
3 Green-lipped mussel spat ratio for Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach
(1)
The ratio set out in subclause (2) must be used to report all seaweed or green-lipped mussel spat taken from Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach.
(2)
For the purpose of determining the weight of green-lipped mussel spat and the weight of seaweed taken from Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach, where spat is taken when attached to seaweed, the spat-to-seaweed ratio is 25:75.
(3)
In this clause, Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach means all New Zealand fisheries waters enclosed by a line—
(a)
commencing at the mean high-water mark at Tauroa Point (at 35°11.200′S and 173°03.400′E); then
(b)
proceeding due west to the territorial sea boundary (at 35°11.200′S and 172°48.550′E); then
(c)
proceeding in a generally north-easterly then north-westerly direction along the territorial sea boundary to a point on the line of latitude of the mean high-water mark at Scott Point (at 34°31.380′S and 172°24.046′E); then
(d)
proceeding due east to the mean high-water mark at Scott Point (at 34°31.380′S and 172°42.200′E); then
(e)
proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction along the mean high-water mark to the point of commencement.
4 Revocation
The Fisheries (Green-Lipped Mussel Spat Ratio) Notice 2004 (SR 2004/338) is revoked.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice applies on and from 1 October 2018 and sets a spat-to-seaweed ratio of 25:75 for the purpose of determining the weight of green-lipped mussel spat and seaweed taken together from Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach. The previous spat-to-seaweed ratio was 50:50.
