These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Social Development.
These regulations are made under section 155 of the Social Security Act 1964 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Social Security (Long-term Residential Care) Amendment Regulations 2018.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 April 2018.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Social Security (Long-term Residential Care) Regulations 2005 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 7 amended (Clothing allowance)
In regulation 7(2), replace “$275.50”
with “$279.25”
.
5 Regulation 12 amended (Personal allowance)
In regulation 12, replace “$43.93”
with “$44.53”
.
6 Revocation
The Social Security (Long-term Residential Care) Amendment Regulations 2017 (LI 2017/28) are revoked.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 April 2018, amend the Social Security (Long-term Residential Care) Regulations 2005 (the principal regulations). They increase to $279.25 the annual clothing allowance payable under regulation 7 of the principal regulations and increase the personal allowance referred to in regulation 12 of those regulations to $44.53 per week.
These increases reflect a 1.36% increase in the New Zealand Consumers Price Index from the December 2016 quarter to the December 2017 quarter (calculated for all quarters using the New Zealand Consumers Price Index (All Groups), excluding cigarettes and other tobacco products).
