Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Te Hika o Papauma) Notice 2019
Pursuant to regulation 9 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Te Hika o Papauma) Notice 2019.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 7 August 2019.
3 Customary food gathering area/rohe moana
This notice applies to the customary food gathering area defined by clause 3(d) of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 12) 2003 (Gazette 2003, p 1129), which is an area from the Mataikona River to the Whareama River on the Wairarapa coast.
4 Tangata whenua
The tangata whenua of the area/rohe moana are Te Hika o Papauma.
5 New appointment
(1)
The Minister of Fisheries has appointed David Ralph Wilton as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana.

The appointment took effect on 7 May 2019.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice is made under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 (the regulations). It comes into force on 7 August 2019.
The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Hika o Papauma. The area/rohe moana is an area from the Mataikona River to the Whareama River on the Wairarapa coast, and extends 12 nautical miles offshore.
Notice is given of the appointment of a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointment at the request of Te Hika o Papauma.
The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
