Pursuant to regulation 9 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Ngāti Kuta-Patukeha (Te Kapotai Hapū)) Notice 2019.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 7 August 2019.
3 Customary food gathering area/rohe moana
This notice applies to the customary food gathering area/rohe moana defined by clause 4 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 4) 2012 (Gazette 2012, p 2737), which is an area around Cape Brett, being seaward from the Haumi River to Taupiri Bay.
4 Tangata whenua
The tangata whenua of the area/rohe moana are Kororareka, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Kaua, Ngāti Korehina, Ngāti Kuta, Ngāti Manu, Ngāti Rahiri, Ngāti Rehia, Patukeha, Te Kapotai, and Te Uri Karaka.
5 New appointments

The Minister of Fisheries has appointed the following people as Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana:

Hohepa Heemi Reti.
(2)
The appointments took effect on 3 May 2019.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice is made under the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 (the regulations). It comes into force on 7 August 2019.
The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Kapotai Hapū. The area/rohe moana is around Cape Brett, being seaward from the Haumi River to Taupiri Bay, and extending to the 200 nautical mile limit.
Notice is given of the appointment of 2 Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointments at the request of Te Kapotai Hapū.
The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
