1 Title

This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua) Notice (No 2) 2019.

2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 13 August 2019.

3 Revocation of this notice

This notice is revoked at the end of 13 April 2024.

4 Customary food gathering area/rohe moana

This notice applies to the customary food gathering area/rohe moana defined by clause 2(c) of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 2) 1998 (Gazette 1998, p 3587), which is an area from the Pareora River to Whakatu, north of the Ashburton River/Hakatere.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice is made under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 (the regulations). It comes into force on 13 August 2019 and revokes itself at the end of 13 April 2024.

The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua. The area/rohe moana is an area from the Pareora River to Whakatu, north of the Ashburton River/Hakatere.

Notice is given of the appointment of 8 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the appointments at the request of Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua.

The powers of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
