1 Title
This order is the Civil Aviation (Montreal Convention) Order 2020.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 28 August 2020.
3 Schedule 6 of Civil Aviation Act 1990 amended
In the Civil Aviation Act 1990, Schedule 6, the Montreal Convention,—
(a)
Article 21, paragraphs 1 and 2, replace “113 000”
with “128 821”
; and
(b)
Article 22, paragraph 1, replace “4 694”
with “5 346”
; and
(c)
Article 22, paragraph 2, replace “1 131”
with “1 288”
; and
(d)
Article 22, paragraph 3, replace “19”
with “22”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 28 August 2020, is made under section 91T(1)(c) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990 (the Act). The order updates the text of the Montreal Convention (the Convention) in Schedule 6 of the Act to reflect increases to certain liability limits specified in the Convention, which are expressed in Special Drawing Rights. A Special Drawing Right is a monetary unit established by the International Monetary Fund (see section 91H of the Act and paragraph 1 of Article 23 of the Convention).

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Civil Aviation (Montreal Convention) Order 2020 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
Section 78 of the Legislation Act 2019 provides that this consolidation, published as an electronic version, is an official version. A printed version of legislation that is produced directly from this official electronic version is also an official version.
