This order is made under section 96J of the Medicines Act 1981—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister of Health.

1 Title
This order is the Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2025.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 29 September 2025.
3 Principal Act
This order amends the Medicines Act 1981.
4 Section 96J amended (Expiry of Part)
In section 96J(1), replace “30 September 2025” with “30 September 2030”.
5 Revocation
The Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2020 (LI 2020/243) is revoked.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 29 September 2025, defers the expiry of Part 7A of the Medicines Act 1981 to 30 September 2030. Part 7A imposes restrictions on xenotransplantation.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2019.
Date of notification in Gazette: 31 July 2025.
