Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Russia Sanctions Amendment Regulations (No 8) 2022.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 2 August 2022.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Russia Sanctions Regulations 2022.

4 Part 1 of table in Schedule 2 amended

In Schedule 2, table, Part 1, insert in their appropriate alphabetical order the items set out in the Schedule of these regulations.

5 Part 3 of table in Schedule 2 amended

In Schedule 2, table, Part 3, after the item relating to a member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation who voted in favour of the recognition of the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk on 15 February 2022, insert:

A branch or an independent arm of service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, including Logistical Support of the Russian Armed Forces

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 2 August 2022, amend the Russia Sanctions Regulations 2022 (the principal regulations).

All the amendments fulfil the purpose of the principal regulations, which is to give effect to the Russia Sanctions Act 2022 (the Act) by imposing sanctions in response to Russia’s military actions in relation to Ukraine (and in response to any assistance from any other country or person).

These regulations add the names of additional entities, and an additional class of entities, to the principal regulations so that the sanctions regime applies to them. The entities form part of Russia’s military-industrial complex.

An entity in the additional class of entities is a branch or an independent arm of service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, including Logistical Support of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade may give further details of the class in a separate designation notice under section 11 of the Act.
