These regulations are made under section 140(1)(c) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister for the Environment made after complying with sections 140(2) and 141 of that Act.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Amendment Regulations 2022.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 7 October 2022.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Regulations 2009.
4 Schedule amended
In the Schedule, insert in their appropriate alphabetical order:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Regulations 2009. They come into force on 7 October 2022.
The amendment adds 2 species to the schedule of organisms that are not new organisms for the purposes of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. The new classification removes the need to apply for Environmental Protection Authority approval for importing, developing, field testing, or releasing the organisms.
Date of notification in Gazette: 6 October 2022.
These regulations are administered by the Ministry for the Environment.
