Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Russia Sanctions Amendment Regulations (No 9) 2022.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 23 August 2022.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Russia Sanctions Regulations 2022.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 23 August 2022, amend the Russia Sanctions Regulations 2022 (the principal regulations).

All the amendments fulfil the purpose of the principal regulations, which is to give effect to the Russia Sanctions Act 2022 (the Act) by imposing sanctions in response to Russia’s military actions in relation to Ukraine (and in response to any assistance from any other country or person).

These regulations—

add the name of an entity so that the sanctions regime applies to it (regulation 4):
add the names of individuals so that the sanctions regime applies to them (regulation 5).

The additional entity is an institution set up to aid Russia’s activities in Ukraine. The additional individuals include senior officials in separatist organisations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and in occupied regions within Ukraine.
