Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice (No 2) 2025.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 1 February 2026.
3 Interpretation
In this notice,—
applicable speed limit data supply device means an auxiliary camera, or other data supply device, that supplies, for the relevant camera system, road, motor vehicle, and time, data that is or includes the applicable speed limit
device for transmitting data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that (wirelessly or by a physical connection, and at any time or times) transmits, or allows (automatic or preset, or on-site or remotely directed) transmission of, data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site)—
(a)
directly or indirectly to a computer system the purpose of which is, or includes, receiving data transmitted from vehicle surveillance equipment; and
(b)
in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced
portable device for storing data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that records, retains, or stores data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site) in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced
time-synchronising device means a timekeeping device that—
(a)
links connected camera systems deployed in a network; and
(b)
provides a time-synchronisation signal to ensure that identical time is maintained by all of those connected camera systems.
4 Meaning of supplementary equipment
In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, supplementary equipment, in relation to a camera system, means all or any of the following items of auxiliary equipment:
(a)
a synchronised flash unit or other lighting system:
(b)
a flash or other lighting unit mounting system:
(c)
a computer network modem or data cable:
(d)
a portable device for storing data:
(e)
a device for transmitting data:
(f)
a power supply device for the camera system, flash or other lighting unit, or both:
(g)
a time-synchronising device:
(h)
an applicable speed limit data supply device.
5 Vehicle surveillance equipment approved
(1)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which clauses 6 to 11 apply are approved as kinds of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Land Transport Act 1998.
(2)
The approval applies regardless of by whom the equipment is owned or operated as a kind of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Act.
6 REDFLEXred-radar NK7 red light/speed camera system
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the REDFLEXred-radar NK7 red light/speed camera system—
(a)
together with any of the following:
(i)
a mounting pole and housing:
(ii)
an additional mapping radar (a REDFLEX mapping radar (wide) or a REDFLEX mapping radar (narrow)):
(iii)
an additional mapping radar mounting pole:
(iv)
an additional mapping radar data cable; and
(b)
with or without any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment.
7 REDFLEXotl radar NK7 Static Speed Camera System
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the REDFLEXotl radar NK7 Static Speed Camera System—
(a)
together with 1 of the following:
(i)
a mounting pole and housing; or
(ii)
a gantry mount and housing; or
(iii)
any other mounting system; and
(b)
with or without any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment.
8 REDFLEXspeed radar NK7 speed camera system
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the REDFLEXspeed radar NK7 speed camera system—
(a)
together with 1 or more housing or mounting systems of any kind; and
(b)
with or without any supplementary camera equipment; and
(c)
with or without or any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment, or other auxiliary equipment of any kind.
9 Redflex Halo camera system
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the Redflex Halo camera system—
(a)
with any 1 or more housing or mounting systems of any kind; and
(b)
with or without any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment, or other auxiliary equipment of any kind; and
(c)
whether configured—
(i)
as a Redflex Halo red light and speed camera system; or
(ii)
as a Redflex Halo speed and average speed camera system.
10 Redspeed Sentio Core camera system
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the Redspeed Sentio Core camera system configured to detect fixed spot speed and red-light offences—
(a)
with any 1 or more housing or mounting systems of any kind; and
(b)
with or without any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment, or other auxiliary equipment of any kind.
11 Redspeed Sentio Scope camera system
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the Redspeed Sentio Scope camera system configured to detect point-to-point average speed offences—
(a)
with any 1 or more housing or mounting systems of any kind; and
(b)
with or without any 1 or more items of supplementary equipment, or other auxiliary equipment of any kind.
12 Notices revoked

1 General
