These regulations are made under section 234 of the Copyright Act 1994 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Regulations 2024.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 July 2024.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Regulations 2011.
4 Regulation 8 amended (Application fees)
In regulation 8, replace “$200”
with “$231.30”
.
5 New regulation 8A inserted (GST excluded)
After regulation 8, insert:
8A GST excluded
The fees prescribed by these regulations are exclusive of goods and services tax.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 July 2024, amend the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Regulations 2011 (the principal regulations).
These regulations increase the fee payable for an application for a Copyright Tribunal order under section 122O of the Copyright Act 1994 from $200 to $231.30 (excluding goods and services tax). This fee is being adjusted to reflect increases in the New Zealand Consumers Price Index since it was last updated.
These regulations also insert new regulation 8A, which provides that all fees prescribed by the principal regulations are exclusive of goods and services tax.
