Order
1 Title
This order is the Health (Immunisation) Regulations Revocation Order 2025.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 8 January 2026.
3 Revocation of Health (Immunisation) Regulations 1995
The Health (Immunisation) Regulations 1995 (SR 1995/304) are revoked.
4 Revocation of this order
This order is revoked on 8 July 2026.
Rachel Hayward,
Clerk of the Executive Council.
Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 8 January 2026, revokes the Health (Immunisation) Regulations 1995.
The Health (Immunisation) Regulations 1995 require primary schools and early childhood education and care centres (ECE centres) to maintain an immunisation register that contains information about the immunisation statuses of their enrolled children. To enable the creation of these immunisation registers, the regulations also require primary schools and ECE centres to request immunisation certificates in respect of their enrolled children, and for caretakers of their enrolled children to provide such certificates upon request.
From 8 January 2026, information about the immunisation status of children enrolled at primary schools and ECE centres will only be managed by the Aotearoa Immunisation Register through information sharing agreements between the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, rather than by the Register as well as primary schools and ECE centres.
This order is revoked on 8 July 2026.
