This order, which comes into force on 12 December 2025, amends the Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004 (the principal order). This order inserts the names of 2 new chemicals into Schedule 2 of the principal order to reflect the amendment to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade that was agreed by parties to the Convention in May 2025. The effect of the amendment to the principal order is to prohibit the export of the new chemicals from New Zealand to another party to the Convention, except if a permit is granted by the Environmental Protection Authority.
