Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Minister of Police gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2017.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 8 December 2017.
3 Interpretation
In this notice,—
applicable speed limit data supply device means an auxiliary camera, or other data supply device, that supplies, for the relevant camera system, road, motor vehicle, and time, data that is or includes the applicable speed limit
device for transmitting data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that (wirelessly or by a physical connection, and at any time or times) transmits, or allows (automatic or preset, or on-site or remotely directed) transmission of, data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site)—
(a)
directly or indirectly to a computer system for purposes of or including reception of data transmitted from vehicle surveillance equipment; and
(b)
in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced
portable device for storing data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that records, retains, or stores data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site) in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced
time-synchronising device means a timekeeping device that—
(a)
links connected camera systems deployed in a network; and
(b)
provides a time synchronisation signal to ensure identical time is maintained by all of those connected camera systems.
4 Approval of REDFLEXotl radar NK7 Static Speed Camera System
(1)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which subclause (2) applies is approved as a kind of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Land Transport Act 1998.
(2)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this subclause applies is the REDFLEXotl radar NK7 Static Speed Camera System—
(a)
together with 1 of the following:
(i)
a mounting pole and housing; or
(ii)
a gantry mount and housing; or
(iii)
any other mounting system; and
(b)
with or without all or any of the items of auxiliary equipment in subclause (3).
(3)
The items of auxiliary equipment referred to in subclause (2)(b) are—
(a)
a synchronised flash unit:
(b)
a flash unit mounting pole or gantry mount system:
(c)
a computer network modem or data cable:
(d)
a portable device for storing data:
(e)
a device for transmitting data:
(f)
a power supply device for the camera system, flash unit, or both:
(g)
a time-synchronising device:
(h)
an applicable speed limit data supply device.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 8 December 2017, approves the REDFLEXotl radar NK7 Static Speed Camera System as a kind of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Land Transport Act 1998.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2017 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
