Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Alcohol Reform Bill to omit the split age purchase option and restore the position that existed before the law changed in 1999, whereby all liquor sales were restricted to people 20 years of age or over. The one exception to this is where someone under 20 years of age is accompanied by a parent, guardian, spouse, or civil union partner who is at least 20 years of age.
