End of Life Choice Bill
Paulo Garcia, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 26
In clause 26, delete subclause (3) (page 23).
This Supplementary Order Paper amends Supplementary Order Paper No 259 amending the End of Life Choice Bill by removing clause 26(3), as it is redundant.
It is unnecessary to state that an offence isn’t committed by a person who seeks assisted dying. The reason is simple: it is not an offence anywhere in New Zealand law to request one’s own death nor to attempt suicide, so there is no good reason to believe that seeking “assisted dying” could be an offence either.
