Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill

Proposed amendments

Dr Elizabeth Kerekere, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 39(1)

In clause 39(1), after “the Minister must” (page 27, line 17), insert “, together with the Minister for Pacific Peoples,”.

Clause 40(1)

In clause 40(1), after “the Minister must” (page 27, line 33), insert “, together with the Minister for Disability Issues,”.

Clause 40A(1)

In clause 40A(1), after “the Minister must” (page 28, line 13), insert “, together with the Minister for Women,”.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends subpart 5 of Part 2 of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill. The proposed changes require the Minister of Health to prepare and determine some of the strategies with the corresponding Minister. This would allow the health strategies that are for specific communities to provide for those specific communities more effectively by requiring the Minister responsible, and consequently the corresponding agency, to provide the necessary specialist advice to do so. Doing this will give greater effect to the bill’s purpose, which is to protect, promote, and improve the health of all New Zealanders
