Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill

Proposed amendment

Dr Elizabeth Kerekere, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 7(1)

After clause 7(1)(e)(v) (page 12, lines 3 to 5), insert:

(vi)

respecting and upholding human rights, including the right to healthcare and health protection as set out in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper strengthens the language in the health sector principles set out in clause 7 of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill in accordance with human rights standards, specifically, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, by giving priority to the most disadvantaged individuals and communities.
