Clause 44

In clause 44, after new section 87E (page 26, after line 23), insert:

87EA New Zealand Motor Caravan Association deemed to be self-containment certification authority

(1)

The New Zealand Motor Caravan Association is deemed to be appointed as a self-containment certification authority under section 87C.

(2)

Subsection (1) applies until the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association resigns that appointment, despite anything to the contrary in sections 87D and 87E.

(3)

In this section, New Zealand Motor Caravan Association means the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association that is incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Bill to allow the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association (NZMCA) to certify self-contained motor vehicles, as previously they have done the bulk of voluntary certifications for self-contained vehicles. The NZMCA will be a certifier alongside any other certifiers appointed by the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board. The Board will not be able to revoke the NZMCA’s ability to certify vehicles.
