17 Marriage of persons under 16 years of age

(1)

A marriage licence shall not be issued by any Registrar and no marriage shall be solemnised by any Registrar or marriage celebrant if either of the persons intending marriage is under the age of 16 years on the date of the notice of the intended marriage given under section 23.

(2)

No marriage shall be void by reason only of an infringement of the provisions of this section.
