An Act to amend the Crimes Act 1961

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement
  • (1) This Act may be cited as the Crimes Amendment Act 1997, and is part of the Crimes Act 1961 (the principal Act).

    (2) This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

2 Standard of care required of persons under legal duties
  • (1) This section inserted s 150A of the principal Act.

    (2) Nothing in this section applies in respect of any act or omission that occurred before the commencement of this Act.

3 Correcting drafting error
  • This section amended paragraph (b) of the definition of the term trial Judge in s 2(1) of the principal Act.
