This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations prescribe the designs for the Tokelau 1984 Souvenir Dollar, the Tokelau 1984 Souvenir Five Dollars, and the Tokelau 1988 Souvenir Five Dollars, which are to be made and issued as commemorative coins to be legal tender only in Tokelau.
The issue of the 1984 coins will complete the series of annual coins which have been issued since 1978. The delay in issuing the 1984 coins is due to delays in issuing the 1983 coin. The 1988 coin is to commemorate the 1988 Olympic Games.
Provisions relating to the standard composition, diameter, and weight of coinage are contained in the Decimal Currency Act 1964 and the Coinage Regulations 1967 (SR 1967/104), both of which are in force in Tokelau.
The obverse impression of all 3 coins provided for in these regulations uses the Machin design for the effigy of Her Majesty. The reverse impressions are illustrated below.
