These regulations are made under section 172(1) of the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Amendment Regulations 2025.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 15 January 2026.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Regulations 2010.
4 New regulations 10 and 11 and cross-heading inserted
After regulation 9, insert:
Prescribed sanitary plumbing or drainlaying in connection with non-consented small stand-alone dwellings
10 Prescribed sanitary plumbing or drainlaying
Sanitary plumbing or drainlaying carried out or supervised in connection with the construction of a non-consented small stand-alone dwelling is prescribed sanitary plumbing or drainlaying for the purposes of section 27A of the Act.
11 Form for record of work
A record of work provided under section 27A of the Act must be in the form set out in the Schedule.
5 New Schedule inserted
Insert the Schedule set out in the Schedule of these regulations as the first schedule to appear after the last regulation of the principal regulations.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 15 January 2026, amend the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Regulations 2010 (the principal regulations).
The amendments insert new regulations 10 and 11 and a new Schedule into the principal regulations.
New regulation 10 provides that sanitary plumbing or drainlaying carried out or supervised in connection with the construction of a non-consented small stand-alone dwelling is prescribed sanitary plumbing or drainlaying for which a record of work must be provided under section 27A of the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006.
New regulation 11 and the new Schedule prescribe a form to be used for the record of work.
